Especially in cloudy skies, when light intensity is constantly changing, a very fast MPPT controller improves energy yield by up to 30% compared to PWM charge controllers and even 10% compared to slower MPPT controllers.
The solar panel controller collects the energy from the solar panels and stores the energy in the batteries.
Utilizing the latest and fastest charging technology, SmartSolar maximizes energy collection, intelligently controlling energy collection to achieve maximum charging in the fastest possible time.
SmartSolar maintains batteries and extends their lifespan.
The SmartSolar charge controller can also charge a deeply discharged battery.
Operation is possible even with a battery voltage of 0 V, provided that the cells are not permanently sulfated or otherwise damaged.
MPPT technology is based on continuous monitoring of the output voltage and current of solar panels (PV), which ensures that all the energy obtained through the solar panels can be stored in the batteries.
The technology brings an added advantage, especially in cloudy weather and when light intensity is constantly changing.
You can remotely monitor and control the functions and settings of the SmartSolar MPPT charger using the charger's built-in Bluetooth interface.
Pair with your smartphone or other similar device using VictronConnect.
If your system is connected to the internet via the Victron Remote Management Portal (VRM), you can access all the features of the MPPT from anywhere, at any time.
Both services are free. For systems that are off-grid, you can monitor your MPPT device by pairing it with a LoRaWAN (Long-Range Wide Area Network) device, which is available separately.
Smart load output prevents damage caused by battery discharge.
You can set the voltage level at which SmartSolar disconnects the load, preventing the battery from being deeply discharged.
And best of all, SmartSolar tries to charge the batteries to 100% charge level every day.
If this is not possible, for example due to bad weather conditions, the system automatically increases the cut-off voltage level daily until charging to 100% is successful.
Bluetooth Smart built-in, no dongle needed
A wireless application that allows you to configure, monitor and update the controller's software using an Apple or Android smartphone, tablet or other similar device.
Battery life: intelligent battery management
If the solar charge controller is unable to charge the battery to its full capacity within 24 hours, the battery status will constantly cycle back and forth between "partially charged" and "end of discharge".
This method of operation (no regular full charge) will damage the lead acid battery within a few weeks or months.
The Battery Life algorithm monitors the battery's charge status and, if necessary, raises the load cutoff limit day by day (i.e., the load is cut off earlier) until the energy received is enough to charge the battery almost 100%.
From now on, the power-off threshold is modulated so that nearly 100% charge is reached approximately once a week.
