ATC-2 Trailer Control caravan anti-sway system
Small evasive maneuvers, crosswinds on bridges or wind pressure when passing trucks can cause the trailer to sway rapidly. There is a high risk of the trailer "swinging up" and becoming uncontrollable.
Once you experience this danger, you will never drive a combination without “emergency electronics” again. In the car you can keep the ESP and in the trailer you can rely on the ATC.
And this is how ATC works:
As soon as the vehicle starts to swerve, the ATC sensors measure even the slightest lateral acceleration directly from the trailer axle.
ATC brakes the trailer immediately and automatically.
The driver feels almost nothing about the electronically controlled braking.
After a few seconds, the vehicle will be moving safely again.
By braking, the trailer automatically adjusts to the road.
Useful information
DID YOU KNOW... that AL-KO's ATC Trail Control anti-sway system is an essential safety component for many caravans.
Recently, installing a Trail Control system has also become profitable for the vehicle driver and his insurance.
Some insurance companies offer up to 7% discount on fully comprehensive insurance - for one caravan.
According to ALKO, inquiring about a possible discount to the relevant (own) insurance company cannot be useless under any circumstances, as you can save up to €100.00 per year .
- How long does it take to install ATC?
Retrofit approx. 2 hours - Does ATC need to be registered in a retrofit?
No. It is sufficient that the ABE is included with the registered vehicle documents. - Where does ATC get its power from?
The ATC is connected to the trailer's junction box and is supplied there while driving with a constant positive voltage from the 13-pin plug. - How much power does ATC need?
(Standard fuse protection) 15 amps. - Can ATC also be installed on trailers with a 7-pin plug?
No. Power supply via a 7-pin plug is not sufficient. - Where should the LED be installed?
In the area of the overflow device. - Does the brake light come on when ATC is operating?
No. ATC brakes the vehicle gently, comparable to the engine brake of a passenger car. Therefore, the brake light does not need to be activated. - Does ATC require maintenance?
No. The system is maintenance-free. - How do I know when ATC is ready for use?
As soon as the 13-pin plug is connected to the towing vehicle, the ATC performs a complete self-test (1 brake application and plausibility check of the electronic system). The operating status is indicated by a green LED on the overrunning clutch.
Green = ready to use
Red = not working (but ready to drive)
Flashing red = trailer brakes (not ready to drive) - How do I know that the ATC emergency system is working in the car?
Gentle braking is visible in the car.
